One of the biggest challenges I’m currently facing with my micro SaaS project isn’t building features it’s getting people to actually visit my website and discover the app I’ve spent months developing.
Building a Great Landing Page Was Just the Start
I’ve worked hard to make sure my landing page follows best practices. According to Google PageSpeed Insights, my results are:
-
Mobile: 76 Performance, 100 Accessibility, 100 Best Practices, 100 SEO
-
Desktop: 99 Performance, 100 Accessibility, 100 Best Practices, 100 SEO
There’s a small issue affecting mobile performance, which I plan to fix this weekend. Since most of my traffic comes from mobile, it’s something I can’t ignore.
But even with a clean, fast, and SEO-optimized page, I’m learning that great seo and performance doesn’t automatically mean traffic.
My Free Marketing Strategy (So Far)
Right now, I’m doing everything I can that’s free to bring in traffic and build early interest in my product.
-
I added a blog section to my site and try to write regularly sharing how my app works, what problems it solves, comparisons to traditional solutions, and the real benefits it brings.
-
I’ve started writing content outside my site on Medium, Reddit, Quora, and a few niche forums.
So far, Medium has been the best in terms of driving real visitors to my landing page. It’s exciting to see people from around the world stumble across my app, sometimes from a search or recommendation, and actually sign up for early access.
But let’s be real it’s still not enough.
What I’ve Noticed About Today’s Users
Most of the users visiting my site have what I call the “TikTok brain.”
They scroll quickly. They don’t read long pages or detailed blog posts. They want to see the product in action fast, and if there’s no immediate hook or download button, they bounce.
That’s when I realized: blogging is good, but it’s not enough.
The New Marketing Game: Reels + Influencers
The founders I follow especially those with fast-growing micro SaaS businesses often say the most effective channel today is short-form video content:
viral reels on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, often combined with influencer collaboration.
One example that blew my mind:
A newly launched micro SaaS just 7 months ago hit over $100K MRR using short-form video marketing. It even helped other micro SaaS apps grow to $10K–$20K MRR using the same strategy.
Their product? An AI-powered tool for creating reels:
-
Detects trends
-
Writes the story and script
-
Generates realistic AI voiceovers
-
Uses avatars that feel human
-
Adds viral hooks
It’s almost impossible to tell if the video was made by a real person or by AI.
My Takeaway
That tool really inspired me.
I think video-first marketing is no longer optional it’s a must for modern startups. And honestly, creating these reels is hard for most of us. It takes creativity, consistency, editing skills, and time. That’s why I think my next micro SaaS idea will be focused on helping businesses easily generate viral-quality reels using AI.
Final Thoughts
For now, I’ll keep experimenting with free marketing channels, blogging, and improving my landing page. But my eyes are on the next step reaching people where they actually are, which today means short videos, fast value, and emotional hooks.
I’ll keep sharing what I learn on this journey, so stay tuned.
